Vampire's Key
Chapter Two
Like the Great Work of an alchemist, the yellow glow from street lights transmuted the wet pavement from black to gold. Around her, pedestrians wove past in all directions, their umbrellas open, occasionally bumping into one another like bumper cars jostling for prime position. The rain had eased, its fiery volley having pounded London and threatened to crack the fragile skin of pavement. Katie gazed at the path of reflected gold until it faded into the dark gloom of the alley. The alchemist’s magic didn’t penetrate the brick walls that loomed skywards like battlements guarding the entrance to a secret world.
“Are you sure?” she asked, her voice betraying the subtle remnants of a Russian accent.
Darren grinned. “Come on,” he urged. “You said you were up for some fun. No one’ll know.”
Katie smiled and studied the tall man. *He was a handsome one,*she thought. Confident, with broad shoulders and a slight swagger that brought an enticing nuance rather than peculiarity to the way he walked.
She bit her lip and nodded. “Just, don’t leave me,” she warned, glancing into the back alley. “It’s very dark.”
Darren flashed his attractive smile. “Don’t worry, I won’t.” His hand brushed through his closely cropped hair, smartening the short strands. He pulled her close and kissed her firmly.
“That was nice,” Katie whispered.
“Come on.” He grinned, took her hand and led her down narrow steps into the alley of shadows.
Katie glanced behind her. The main road seemed so bright and vibrant from here; crowds of excited youths swamped the footpaths, forcing speeding businessmen and idling couples into the bus lane. It left her with a feeling of hunger and desire, a need for the energy and life that was modern London. “Are you sure no one’s around?” she asked as she stepped tentatively onto the footpath that took them to the rear of the high street shops and bars. “It’s very dark.”
“You don’t want to be seen, do you?” Darren replied.
Katie shook her head. “No, of course not.”
“This looks good,” Darren said, spinning her into his arms.
“Steady!” Katie cautioned as she gazed into his dreamy blue eyes. Losing herself in their otherworldliness, she surrendered to his strength, allowing him to lift her up and pin her against a brick wall.
Darren kissed her, pressing urgently against her soft, full lips. A hand deftly flicked open her coat buttons which he quickly parted before thrusting his groin against her.
“You’re getting hard,” she breathed, feeling the length of his cock press against her.
“You’re making me,” he replied.
Warmed by the heat of his body, she wrapped her legs around him and ground her pussy against his hard-on.
“God, you’re so hot!” He reached down to undo his fly.
“Not yet,” Katie countered.
“I need to.”
“No, wait.” She grinned. Her hands held his cheeks and she kissed him again.
“God, your hands are cold.”
“I just need warming up.”
His lips teased her neck, brushing across her soft skin.
Katie’s voice turned breathy. “That feels nice,” she whispered. “Don’t stop.”
In answer, Darren’s hips moved rhythmically, thrusting his member against her.
Katie gasped and pushed back, a lustful glaze forming over her eyes.
“You like it, don’t you?” he said, eying her flushed face. “You dirty bitch.”
Katie tensed. Her tone sharpened, “Don’t call me that.”
He buried his head in her neck again, repeatedly kissing her — softly at first, then harder, his lips matching the dry thrusts of his groin.
Katie relaxed again. Her voice dropped to a whisper. “Keep going,” she encouraged as she reached down and rubbed his erection through his jeans.
“Good girl,” Darren praised. “You like what I’ve got for you?”
Katie’s hand responded, stroking up and down.
“You want it, don’t you? You dirty bitch,” he said, grinding against her.
“Njet. I said don’t call me that.” Katie’s hand dropped to her side.
“Just playing.” His fingers cupped her breasts, squeezing tightly as his thumbs flicked her rigid nipples. His mouth returned to her neck, lips caressing goose-bumped flesh, kissing a trail from her chin to her ear lobe.
Forgetting her annoyance, Katie moaned and writhed against him.
“Is that better?” he asked.
The strength of his erection pushed against her and she nodded. “I want you.”
“Good girl.” He grinned. “I know what you need. You’re all the same.” His thrusts were harder now, forcing his strength upon her. His teeth ground against her skin and his voice dropped to a whisper, his lips caressing the flesh beneath her ear. “Say it. Say it. You know you want it.”
Katie gasped. Her body felt on fire, re-ignited by Darren’s strength and sexual power.
“You want my cock, don’t you? Say it. Tell me what you want, you dirty bitch.”
Katie’s eyes narrowed and she shook her head. “I told you, don’t call me that.”
Darren stared at her. “Why, ‘cos you know it’s true? Dirty bitch.”
“I thought you were different,” she said. She tried to push him away. He pushed back, locking her against the wall.
“You want different?” Darren asked. “I’ll show you different.” He grabbed her throat, his groin still thrusting against her, his fingers squeezing her neck tightly.
“Please,” Katie pleaded. “You’re strong.”
“I’ll show you how fucking strong I am.” He buried his face in her neck again.
Katie gasped and closed her eyes, losing herself in Darren’s attentions. She didn’t see the lifeless eyes staring at them from the dark corner opposite, or the slow approach of the vampire to whom they belonged. Its body was obscured by the dark shadows that saturated the alleyway.
Darren’s teeth grazed across Katie’s skin, then clamped down on her flesh, biting into her. Katie gasped.
“Hurry up,” the vampire said, coming to a halt a few feet away.
“Wait, Aadhira,” Katie hissed, locking Darren between her legs.
“Who’s that?” Darren asked, looking back at Katie. “Jesus! What’s happened to your eyes? They’re white!” Her dead gaze fixed on him. Her arms and legs held fast, binding him in place. Katie hissed and launched her mouth at his throat. Two fangs plunged into him, cutting through the skin and slicing into his vein. Katie’s tongue lapped rapidly over the open wound, drawing his blood into her mouth.
“Hurry up,” Aadhira repeated.
Darren’s arms struck ineffectually at Katie’s back. Katie tightened her grip, bracing his arms against his sides.
Warm, salty blood filled her mouth, nourishing her body as she digested his energy. Darren’s legs gave way, dumping his body weight onto her, his head slumped forward over her shoulder. Katie followed his body down to the floor. Taking the last of his blood, she released the empty carcass.
“You always have to tease them,” Aadhira commented, smoothing her ponytail into the neck of her oversized hoodie. Skinny jeans hugged well-proportioned legs and were tucked into block heeled ankle boots that added an extra inch to her height.
“Not always,” Katie replied, wiping her mouth clean.
“Nearly always,” Aadhira countered, her accent intimated echoes of northern England. “I’ll get Peter to tidy up,” she said. She looked back at the dark-haired vampire. “Do you feel better now?”
The white glaze over Katie’s eyes faded, replaced by dark brown irises. “I always feel better after feeding.”
“He was your second tonight,” Aadhira noted. “So how was he?”
“Fuuu,” Katie replied, resorting to her native tongue. “Bad, just like the last god-knows how many.”
“Boring,” Aadhira said. “Anyway, Peter messaged; he’s arrived.”
Katie looked at her watch. “He’s late. That’s not like him.”
“His girlfriend’s with him.”
“Another two for dinner.”
“You can’t still be hungry?”
Katie smiled with a twinkle in her eye. “I’m always hungry. Where are the others?”
“With Edward.”
“Good. I fancy Stake for supper,” Katie said.
The two vampires headed back to the steps where the golden path of humanity awaited.
