It's Been a While...

It's been a while crocodile and I've been a busy little bee.

I know I don't update on here too much at the moment, and I've dropped off the majority of social media, certainly X and BlueSky have died to me and for me. It's as much due to algorithms as it is to a need to truly change myself and what I am doing in respect of my writing. This has been a bit of a lengthy death, but it's definitely needed.

That's the thing about a deep and truly lasting transformation, the old needs to be properly released. That doesn't mean you need to attack it or try and destroy it. I think if you do that, you're actually still attached in some way to it. It needs to be left alone. Walked away from. Abandoned. Slowly it will fade away inside yourself, all the while you plant the new seeds and take the first steps in the new direction.

Book Number Three

I'm deep in the drafting of Book 3. Lilly, Katie, Lady Mortimer, Adrian and so many more characters are showing me their stories which I am scribing. I'm currently working on Katie's chapters which are coming along bloody beautifully.

Method and Madness

I tend to write a character's chapters in a series and then work on another character's chapters. This can be a bit of a stop start process, but it works well for me. Katie has about five chapters drafted (with some current rewrites happening, as I clarify direction) and Lady Mortimer has similar. Lilly and Adrian are both on a couple of chapters in.

Novellas

Along with book 3, I now have two drafts, that's become three draft novella and added to with another draft novella, which makes around four novellas. They all require a lot more work, focus, attention, blood, sweat, frustration, naked male servers, well crafted Powerful Female Vampires, sex, hot scenes, sexy scenes, naughty scenes, great descriptions and fantastic character arcs and well-crafted stories. So there's not too much to do. :)

Brand New Me

Changing yourself starts with self-awareness: noticing the familiar thoughts, seeing how they manifest in the world, questioning them and changing them. Here's a very mundane example that I only realised yesterday:

I always say, "I'm no good at gardening", "My garden has so many weeds", "I'm good at killing plants", and that is exactly what I get: weeds, a dislike of gardening and new plants that tend to die off. I realised this yesterday when weeding the side flowerbed. The new flower that I planted late last year is now dead and a mass of weeds have returned;. While weeding I reflected on my thoughts and that what I am seeing is exactly what I am getting.

So I'm changing my thoughts: I like gardening. I'm a natural gardener with an instinct for gardening. My garden is weed free. Flowers excel in my garden. My garden is beautiful.

Now let's watch the magic happen.

Updating the Site and the Blog

Well, amongst everything else, I am developing a new website. Thanks to Sayre for her work on my current site (which I have played with a little bit); it is pretty damn brilliant and has really helped as I had no ability to do this due to Apple ceasing to update the software on my old hardware, but with a new laptop I can now look at setting up something special. This is happening, slowly, as I am writing and developing my author brand and also doing the usual day job and life things.

And the blog

I'll post more. I'll try and do a monthly update. I'll try and add more humour (along the lines of my tongue-in-cheek day job writing). But let's face it, it's no laughing matter trying to write something that makes people laugh, smile or at least not frown.

Let's see if I can do it.
